April 24, 2012 7:15 PM

Chris Macaluso, Coastal Outreach Coordinator with Louisiana Wildlife Federation (LWF), was recently awarded a Coastal Stewardship Award presented by the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) for exceptional commitment to restoring coastal Louisiana. The seven individuals and one organization receiving Coastal Stewardship Awards for 2012 were honored at CRCL’s 2012 Stewardship Awards Banquet, on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.

Chris has worked both locally and nationally to raise awareness about coastal restoration in Louisiana.  In addition to currently leading LWF’s coastal outreach through partnership in the Vanishing Paradise campaign, he previously served as the Public Information Director for the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities, the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration (OCPR), and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) during the last two years of Governor Blanco’s Administration and the first two years of the Jindal Administration. Chris has also hosted an outdoors-oriented radio program for the last five years.

Created in 1995, CRCL’s Coastal Stewardship Awards Program recognizes individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the preservation and restoration of Louisiana’s coastal wetlands. It is the highest award CRCL can give to honor those who show an extraordinary commitment to our coast. You can read more about CRCL's awards program and 2012 banquet here.
