WHEREAS, recreational fisherman have limited knowledge of the common names of and how to visually identify protected, threatened and endangered species, and
WHEREAS, federal and state wildlife laws and regulations impose very large fines for “taking” these protected species, and
WHEREAS, sportsmen have not been educated to visually identify these special protected species.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Louisiana Wildlife Federation urges the state and federal agencies/commissions responsible for managing and enforcing the laws concerning protected, threatened and endangered species to produce and make available to the public a protected, threatened and endangered species pictorial poster or booklet (for fresh and salt water species) that will enable non-scientists to easily these special species.
