LWF BOD Forms Conflict of Interest Policy / Confidentiality Policy LOUISIANA WILDLIFE FEDERATION, INC. Conflict of Interest Policy / Confidentiality Policy The Louisiana Wildlife Federation (LWF) is a charitable, not-for-profit organization dedicated to conservation and protection of wildlife habitat and related natural and environmental resources. Paid and volunteer representatives of LWF are expected to maintain high ethical standards. In accordance with these expectations, no paid or volunteer representative of LWF shall: Accept or solicit, on behalf of any person or entity, any financial gain or advantage other than nominal value offered as a result of affiliation with LWF. When in doubt, disclose to the LWF Executive Committee for a determination. Publicly use any LWF affiliation in connection with promotion of politics, religion, or positions on any issue not in conformity with official positions of LWF. Disclose any confidential information available solely as a result of affiliation with LWF to any unauthorized third party. Knowingly take actions or make statements intended to influence conduct of LWF in a way that confers financial benefit to a person, corporation, or entity with which the representative has affiliation or an economic interest. Operate or act in a manner contrary to the best interests of LWF. In cases in which an Officer, Director, Committee Member, or Member of the LWF is voting on an issue in which he/she, his/her employer, business associate, or family member has a significant and/or material economic interest, there is a potential conflict of interest and he/she should abstain from such a vote. If a member or staffer believes that a conflict of interest exists, the individual is expected to disclose such an interest and abstain. In those cases where there is a perceived conflict but no disclosure, or in those cases where the individual cannot determine if a conflict exists, the matter shall be referred to the Executive Committee, which shall rule forthwith. Nothing herein shall preclude voluntary disqualification without the necessity of referral to the Committee. If the Executive Committee determines that a conflict of interest exists, the Officer, Director, Committee Member, or Member in question shall abstain from voting on the matter involved. CONFIDENTIALITY From time to time LWF staff members, Officers, Board of Directors, Committee Members, and Members at Large engage in discussions, research, and debates aimed at formulating official LWF policy positions. All such discussions, and especially the identity, comments, and opinions of the participants, shall always be treated as strictly confidential.
