Commendation For The Coastal Protection And Restoration Authority

SUBJECT: COMMENDATION FOR THE COASTAL PROTECTION AND RESTORATION AUTHORITY

WHEREAS, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is steadfast in its commitment to provide expertise and assistance to the restoration of Louisiana’s coast; and

WHEREAS, the massive losses of coastal wetlands threaten our economy and livelihood; and

WHEREAS, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is nationally recognized for its process and success in the development of a statewide master plan for the protection and restoration of our coast; and

WHEREAS, unfailing leadership by R. King Milling has been a vital part of that success as chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation; and

HEREAS, for more than twenty years, R. King Milling has advocated to put Louisiana’s fight against coastal land loss onto the state and national agendas and into the hearts and minds of Louisiana’s citizens; and

WHEREAS, he was among the first to convince leaders in politics, business, and industry that Louisiana’s coastal crisis was an environmental and economic catastrophe in the making and one that deserved everyone’s attention; and

WHEREAS, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority has successfully developed and implemented statewide plans to protect our coast with the support of Governor John Bel Edwards and the state legislature.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Louisiana Wildlife Federation commends the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and R. King Milling for their unyielding commitment to develop a better Louisiana through restoration of our coast.
