In Southeast Louisiana, the oil and gas industry has been supplanted as the top employer, being replaced by the water management industry. The water management industry, which includes jobs like coastal restoration, coastal protection, and urban water management, is now the overall second employer in coastal Louisiana. In addition to being one of the faster growing industries since 2010, water management boasts the highest median wages among driver industries and provides over 44,000 jobs to Southeast Louisiana.
