Contest Open for Youth Hunter of the Year 2018

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), the Louisiana Wildlife Federation and the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association are seeking submissions for the 2018 Youth Hunter of the Year contest. The contest is open to Louisiana boys and girls ages 15 and younger.

Did you have a special hunt this past year? Harvested your first game animal or bird? Maybe just a hunting trip made great by sharing time in the outdoor with family and friends? Regardless, you could be a candidate for our male and female Youth Hunter of the Year contest for 2018.

Youth Hunters of the Year will receive a plaque in recognition of their achievement and a gift certificate from Bowie Outfitters. They will be featured in a story in Marsh and Bayou Magazine. The two winners will also be recognized at the Governor’s State Conservation Achievement Awards Banquet in April.

Contest sponsors include Baton Rouge Chapter of Delta Waterfowl, South Louisiana Branch of Quality Deer Management Association, Andrew Harrison with Harrison Law, LLC, Bowie Outfitters – Baton Rouge, and Outdoor Roots.

View the registration form HERE.  Entrants must submit the registration form along with a photograph and story describing the hunt. Entries must be postmarked by March 9, 2019. Applications can be sent by mail or submitted electronically via email.
