NEW HANDBOOK TO HELP PARISHES STRENGTHEN LITTER VIOLATION ENFORCEMENT

Fed up with trash in local rivers and bayous? There’s a tool that can help parish government officials identify ways to address litter enforcement and adjudication.

The new handbook includes current Louisiana laws, sample ordinance and how to develop a more robust adjudication (setting up a litter court). It has sample documents and language based on how St Tammany Parish has boosted their enforcement and prosecution.

The Litter Ordinance Template and Handbook can be found at EPA’s Trash Free Waters Program:

The Louisiana Aquatic Litter Alliance includes 30+ local, state and non-profit participants that came together to address the problem of litter in local bayous and rivers and how to address sources of marine pollution.
