The Louisiana Wildlife Federation has released the updated second edition of First Time Fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin, a free activity booklet designed to help young anglers learn the basics.
The story follows Emma, her dad and Michael on his first fishing trip in the Basin and introduces skills like casting, baiting a hook and understanding size and licensing regulations. The booklet also includes games, checklists and illustrated native fish.
This project is supported by the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area and illustrated by New Orleans artist Anna Wilson. It is a simple way for families to explore the beauty of the Basin and inspire kids to connect with the outdoors.
