NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION WEIGHS IN ON CURRENT STATUS FROM BP OIL SPILL

The National Wildlife Federation has a new interactive report talking about the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010, which killed eleven men and coated areas of the Gulf Coast in oil.  Important Louisiana resources, especially fish and oyster reefs, were greatly impacted, as well as many lesser known occupants of the Louisiana coast. The dolphin population near Barataria Bay has reached a low point of births, while the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle suffered heavily from the oil spill, as it was already critically endangered before.  The small population of Bryde’s whales in the Gulf could now be as low as twenty individuals today.
